Base Camp on iPhone & Management of Waypoints & Tracks

I am slowly coming to grips with Base Camp for Windows and on the iPhone for by Fenix but cannot seem to address the following.

Once you move a set of waypoints from the Fenix to Base Camp on the iPhone there is no apparent way of deleting them from the iPhone. The edit screen lets you select waypoints but does not offer any commands to actually do anything with them once they have been selected. I even tried deleting the app and reloading it and the waypoints all reappeared. So very good protection of data but no good for management of data.

Is this on the update list? Or am i missing something in the location of edit commands once waypoints are selected in Base Camp on iPhone?

Unfortunately this team does not maintain the mobile version of BaseCamp.

You might just have to ask Product Support (link is in my signature), unless some user on the forums has an idea.
  • In BaseCamp Mobile, select any Waypoint, Track or Route from the list. After the selected data loads, choose the 'Edit' button at the top right of the screen, then the 'garbage can' at the bottom left of the next screen to delete the data.
  • Sorry BABJ615, that does not work.

You can select the points but no edit options and no trash can on the display. These might come up when the Fenix is connected but they relate to the WPs on the Fenix not those buried in Base Camp Mobile.
  • Worked just fine on my iPhone 4s when I tried it just before I made the post. And BaseCamp Mobile was not connected to any devices, I was editing the data on my phone.
  • Well there seems to be a bug in the iPhone5 software? Or are they the same assuming all updates are loaded which I think I have.

Below is the screen shot of the edit screen and I have selected all the waypoints that are buried somewhere in Base camp Mobile. But there are no actual edit options. The + button takes you off to add a new WP. The little folder symbol appears to be deactivated.

Please re-read my post from before, but s..l..o..w..l..y:

  • Sorry to be contrary, but with the screen as per the screen shot attached there is no indication of "loading" and after waiting for 5 minutes (do I need to wait longer?) there is no change in the screen to allow any "edit data" apart from selecting the points. I have repeated this exercise with a good wait for things to load (the WPs are all visibly listed with no indication anything is happening) before pressing the "edit data" button, again to have the screen look as per the screen shot.
  • In your screenshot, you have each data 'marked' with a check box. Of course nothing is going to happen.

You have to select any Waypoint, Track or Route from the list to open that data file, and that is when the editing options will be made available to you.
  • This is reading like I am very thick. But I can only conclude your screen looks different to mine. Or you are taking a different path through the steps. Yes in the screen shot I have each waypoint with a tick in the box. I assume this is what you mean by marked. Well they are all ticked cos I used the "select all" button, there are a bucket load of waypoints to delete. i'll been here all day if I have to delete them one at a time. Anyhow then nothing happens and no buttons appear, nothing "loads". The only buttons that operate are the "clear all" button which un ticks the selected waypoints. and the "+" which generates a new waypoint and last but not least the "cancel" button which takes you back to the "My Collection" screen which has a "reload" button on the left and an "edit" button on the right which takes to to screen shot land and the situation detailed above. Alas there is no "opening" of the data in the screen the "edit" button takes you too.

So the screen that the "edit" button takes you to is a dead end for me. I have deleted base Camp Mobile and reloaded in case the software was missing something and no change.

    Hey 24ZZ,

I know you want to mass delete those waypoints rather than one at a time. But instead of arguing with BABJ615 can you please do as he suggests? Just select *one* waypoint and see if that lets you edit/delete.

Right now it's not clear whether your copy is broken or simply that you need a feature that isn't there yet.
