when i make a duplicate of a track and the chance the original the copy chances too
how can i fix it so the copie dont chance?
(in basecamp 4.2.4 map city navigator euorpe nt 2014.2)
  • That didn't happen in 4.2.3 and I've not loaded 4.2.4, maybe someone else can check. It shouldn't happen ... unless there's a bug in 4.2.4.

I just tried making a duplicate of route in 4.2.4, I changed the duplicate and the original remained unchanged. Don't see the problem.

OP may be copying the instance of the route (sharing it in different lists/folders.)
That's different from actually duplicating a route. (I'm aware there are plenty of bugs still in 4.2.4, but I haven't experienced this duplication problem.)

If you duplicate an "object", it should have a new name (waypoints get a 1 added to the duplicated name and tracks get 001, 002 etc.) ~ If you edit these duplicates, they shouldn't have any effect on the originals.
(And if these duplicates you are editing have the same name as the original, they're not duplicates. You've actually only "shared" (copied a pointer pointing to the same object) in multiple locations.

Be careful editing originals. (When working/editing tracks imported from a GPS into Basecamp: The tracks are somehow loosing both date info & altitude info.)

How did you 'duplicate' it. You need to right click the original and select 'Duplicate'. Is that what you did?
