Discoverer GB 50k in Basecamp

Hi

I have a Etrex30 which has Garmin Discoverer GB 50k, I can only see the Discoverer map in Basecamp if I connect the Etrex to the PC.

Is it possible to transfer the map data from the Etrex to Basecamp so it can be viewed without having the Etrex connected?

If you copy the maps onto a USB flash drive, then BaseCamp will read the maps from there. So it will work so long as you have the flash drive plugged in.

Or you could copy the maps onto your hard drive, then use software to create a virtual disk drive. eg using ImDisk. See this guide: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?47700-How-to-use-BaseCamp-without-having-to-plug-in-your-GPS

Thanks Craig,

it looks the solution but can't get Imdisk to play ball, whatever I try I get an invalid parameter error. I've followed to the letter the step by step in the pdf doc so am stumped and frustrated.

is there other diskimage software?

Thanks for links, have discovered it is limitation of my 32bit Win XP system, will try on my Win7 laptop but trackpad is not the easiest thing to use with Basecamp (could get mouse for it though)
