We have just released BaseCamp 4.2.4

You can receive the update here: http://www8.garmin.com/software/BaseCamp_424.exe

Here are the items we have fixed:

Fixed error when deleting the last track point in a track
Fixed 'Arrive Continue' guidance issue on zumo 660 (you will need to re-export your gpx files that had this issue, but not recalculate)
Fixed address search issue when running in languages other than English
Fixed user data from FIT files not being read from the Edge 800
Fixed error when removing user data from a list or list folder
Fixed error when using Trip Planner
Fixed error when selecting a track to create an Adventure from

Also for technical reasons, we will not allow non-Garmin devices to enumerate from within BaseCamp. This is due to the over reaching use of copying files to the system. MTP devices are a notable problem, such as an iPhone 5. If you wish to move pictures from your iPhone 5 to BaseCamp, copy them off the iPhone 5 to your local PC first.

Let us know if you have any issues with this update.

Thank you!! My routes which had previously had this issue look perfect now.

One question, when you say "re-export your gpx files", is this the same as "Device-Send to Device" and/or dragging a route onto the gps from within Basecamp? I'm just wanting to understand exactly what you are describing.

After I transfer my routs into my 660, then go to my custom routes there is a delay of up to a minute as these routes are "processed". The gps is basically locked up during this delay. What exactly is happening during this delay? GPX files converted into some kind of internal route format? I'm assuming it's not a recalc of the routes??

I believe that is the case. You can tell if it is recalc-ing the route if the 0% climbs. If it stays at 0 it is just importing.

Would be possible, FALAGAR, to check my below statement about the BC update from 4.2.3 to 4.2.4? The 4.2.3 is not more on computer however the 4.2.4 needs something from previous revision 4.2.3. Could be possible to clean the registry eventual manually before install the new 4.2.4? Thank you. Eugen6533

Sorry. Additional information, perhaps will help: (Windows XP SP3): In „Software“ there is still the BC 4.2.2 but could not been removed. I already installed the Windows Installer (KB942288), which was missing (it seems). Now, trying to remove the BC 4.2.2, I have been asked now for “Garmin Base Camp” disk!

I have elevated your issue to our customer support team. I am awaiting their response. Thank you for your patience.
  • Thank you very much! Best regards, Eugen6533

Solved on 8 November 2013: I am quite sure, the problem encountered (no Update possible from 4.2.3 to 4.2.4) was NOT a Garmin (BaseCamp) problem but a Windows problem. Indeed, I installed now a new operating system (the hard disk has been formatted) and since I could re-install (using MapUpdtaer 3.2.2) MapSource and also BaseCamp and corresponding CN NT 2014.30 without any problems! Thank you to ALL of you for support. Best Regards, Eugen6533

I believe that is the case. You can tell if it is recalc-ing the route if the 0% climbs. If it stays at 0 it is just importing.

There is no percentage display when the gps is locked up processing the imported routes.
  • With 4.2.4 the tracks saved as fit files on a Garmin Fenix are visible again.
However I am also having an issue with the language selection. I have a spanish windows 7, when I change Basecamp language to english, most right click menus are shown with english text, but the top menu bar stays with spanish labels

Looks like a minor BUG, FIRST REPORTED by a diff. user on Zumoforums: (credit to dsepanski)

When you do a "Find" "Find Points of Interest" "Fuel" "All Subcategories". You will get all 50 on the map, but differing numbers in the "FIND" POI box.

i.e.: I tried this: .... First time, all 50 showed up on the map and in the Find box, etc... then I did it again> Fuel/All Subcategories.. and I had only ONE in the find box, but again all 50 on the map??? Then changed it to 'Auto Fuel' and 50 showed up in the POI box, changed back to All Subcategories, and that time only 6 gas stations show up.. but always 50 on the map.

It doesn't seem to follow rhyme or reason.

Well I finished our ride to the Hill Country this past week. I'm happy to say no Arrive/Continue incidents. I did experience to spontaneous recalculations while just riding along the route on two separate routes, not sure what that was all about.

Tracks missing detail data in BaseCamp?

Viewing tracks in BaseCamp 4.24 I noticed the following:

Some recently recorded tracks (recorded on a Montana GPS) show the start times, but are missing details (in the properties pane when viewing the track details) such as: leg speed, leg time, elevation and time??? These tracks do show start time, elapesed total time and average speed when map and data views are swapped.

These tracks were recently recorded with the GPS, and "received" into BaseCamp. Most of the recorded tracks show all the detail data, just not all of them. The only things I can think of is either a firmware update (the previous one) temporarily caused the issue, or editing tracks in BaseCamp (to remove erroneous points before sending them back to the unit) may have somehow stripped this data?

BaseCamp 4.2.4 still has SERIOUS DATA LOSS BUGS!

Version 4.2.4 has managed to destroy all my extra track data. (Elevation info, and most of the other details with the exception of distance/course & position of the track data.) ~No idea of how this is happening, although I believe it has something to do with import (receive from device) in combination with list/data duplication.....

Very strange things are happening, such as some lists (and folders) are displaying start dates of tracks (swap map and data views), and other lists/folders (with identical content) are not. Irrespective the problem is FAR WORSE: Even when the start dates are showing, there is no detailed info on the tracks (anymore) under properties. (with the exception of the critical positioning data: leg distance, course, and position)

I know for a fact that when these tracks were recorded (and ALSO initially viewed in BaseCamp) they contained the following data: elevation, leg time, leg speed, and time. This data is now gone. Prior to loosing all this extra data, I did notice that some of the tracks were missing start times, so they could not be sorted. Now, the remainder of these tracks (which still display start times) do not contain the detailed data within the track properties tab. ~ It's gone!

This may or may not help you but BaseCamp doesn't store track points in the AllData.gdb file (MapSource stored everything in GDB files).

BaseCamp database and Track/Trip Log details

What this means is that if these files are lost/corrupted you lose track data.

Now my solution is to save, manually (i.e. copy them in Windows Explorer), GPX files from my devices. If BC ever messes up I can re-import the GPX(s) to restore the track data.
