BaseCamp 4.2.4 is now available

We have just released BaseCamp 4.2.4

You can receive the update here: http://www8.garmin.com/software/BaseCamp_424.exe

Here are the items we have fixed:

Fixed error when deleting the last track point in a track
Fixed 'Arrive Continue' guidance issue on zumo 660 (you will need to re-export your gpx files that had this issue, but not recalculate)
Fixed address search issue when running in languages other than English
Fixed user data from FIT files not being read from the Edge 800
Fixed error when removing user data from a list or list folder
Fixed error when using Trip Planner
Fixed error when selecting a track to create an Adventure from

Also for technical reasons, we will not allow non-Garmin devices to enumerate from within BaseCamp. This is due to the over reaching use of copying files to the system. MTP devices are a notable problem, such as an iPhone 5. If you wish to move pictures from your iPhone 5 to BaseCamp, copy them off the iPhone 5 to your local PC first.

Let us know if you have any issues with this update.

    I've got a problem now....
In 4.2.3 I changed my language from Dutch to English.
    Now 4.2.4 started in Dutch.:(
I've checked the settings, it still says english.
I've changed to dutch, than I was told in English that Basecamp had to restart.
After the restart BS was in Dutch.
Now I changed back to english, BC now told me in Dutch that it had to restart.
When BC came back, it still was in Dutch :(

    Uninstalled 4.2.4 and installed 4.2.3.
Now I noticed it's just the top bar that stays in dutch, "Library" and "Garmin Adventures" changes from Dutch to English and back.
Before installing 4.2.4 The top bar was also in English.
MIXED UP VERSION: second thing from the right on the grey bar is "Sign In".

DUTCH ONLY VERSION: second thing from the right on the grey bar is "Aanmelden".

    another thing, maybe the same....
In settings I change the language to German (Deutsch) and let BC restart.
The problem with the grey bar remains the same, all pull-down menu's in Dutch, just "Anmelden" in German.
Now I go the Options, General and push the reset button.
The German text appears that it wants to restart.
    BC restarts in Dutch :)
But when I go to the Options General the language is english.
Maybe this problem occurs when 4.2.4 is installed over 4.2.3 when the language in 4.2.3 isn't the systems language.

Now how do I get BC to display the rest of the grey bar in the language I select?
  • The dreaded info popup/balloon is still there. Sigh. Maybe next time. Christmas is coming.
  • Probably at the same time as we get mapsource like categories. Will be 4.3 or later though.

BaseCamp 4.2.4 is a maintenance release. Meaning this is mostly about bug fixes.

Both the popup issue and the waypoint category qualify as features that would only be implemented in a feature release (like 4.3 or 4.4).

Great timing! I was getting ready to load the 660 with the routes for our trip tomorrow. We'll be out for a week so this should be a good test.

Thanks for jumping on the Arrive/Continue problem.
  • We have just released BaseCamp 4.2.4

Fixed 'Arrive Continue' guidance issue on zumo 660 (you will need to re-export your gpx files that had this issue, but not recalculate)

Thank you!! My routes which had previously had this issue look perfect now.

One question, when you say "re-export your gpx files", is this the same as "Device-Send to Device" and/or dragging a route onto the gps from within Basecamp? I'm just wanting to understand exactly what you are describing.

After I transfer my routs into my 660, then go to my custom routes there is a delay of up to a minute as these routes are "processed". The gps is basically locked up during this delay. What exactly is happening during this delay? GPX files converted into some kind of internal route format? I'm assuming it's not a recalc of the routes??
  • Unfortunatley it is impossible to install the 4.2.4. A message from Garmin requests a....DISK (see attachment). The same if I try to remove the previous 4.2.3. Please help. Thank you, Eugen6533
PS: I tried a lot of "solutions". No positive result. I also followed the following (according to Internet):

""Download BaseCamp.exe file, than use a compress tool like 7-zip right mouse click on the file to open file and see elements in the exec file look for the BCMAIN.msi file, double click, it will then install, after you can then go back to the normal BaseCamp.exe it will then install nicely""

Unfortunately did not work. A window informed me "the previous BaseCamp could not been properly removed”

Can somebody help me? Thank you.
  • Would be possible, FALAGAR, to check my below statement about the BC update from 4.2.3 to 4.2.4? The 4.2.3 is not more on computer however the 4.2.4 needs something from previous revision 4.2.3. Could be possible to clean the registry eventual manually before install the new 4.2.4? Thank you. Eugen6533

Sorry. Additional information, perhaps will help: (Windows XP SP3): In „Software“ there is still the BC 4.2.2 but could not been removed. I already installed the Windows Installer (KB942288), which was missing (it seems). Now, trying to remove the BC 4.2.2, I have been asked now for “Garmin Base Camp” disk!
