Map sizes are different on my screen

Hi everyone,

I got something weird in basecamp and I don't know if there's something wrong or if this is by design.

I have 3 maps installed covering the same area: Topo Benelux, Openfietsmap Benelux and Openstreetmap Europe.
Switching between the maps should change things like details, but aspect ratio should be the same, right?
This seems not to be the case. The three maps don't 'match' as overlay. On my garmin everything seems fine, I don't have any trouble navigating, but in basecamp the sizes just don't match.

Anyone recognize this?

This is a fairly common bug/feature in BaseCamp and MapSource. Its because the maps have different "projection angles" set.

You can't adjust this in BaseCamp itself. But you can in MapSource, if you have that installed. Run MapSource, then select the map you want. Then press Ctrl + Alt + A, and it will open a dialogue to set the projection angle. It should probably be the same angle as your latitude.

Run GMTK, then select a map, and click extras, then "Projection Angle Selection".

Really noticeable if you have a proximity set. The circle may change to an ellipse as you change maps!
