Basecamp loads wrong "Lists"

Have new BC 2.3.4 and am trying to load a single "list" but Basecamp insists on loading all my old "lists" onto my Nuvi 2455.

Have been through this three times and have made sure I only select the one "list" I want.

How do I fix this? Leaving on trip this weekend and do not like having to wade through old "Lists"
  • Are you sure? I've just tried and Basecamp only sends the selected list.

Have you cleared out the GPX folder on your nuvi first? If not it will load any lists you've sent previously. Look at the GPX folder on your nuvi and delete anything other than current.gpx. Boot your nuvi and then delete anything you don't want. Then send the list from Basecamp.

    I deleted all Saved places.
    I deleted all recent places
I deleted data in "Where I've been

The Nuvi indicates I have no Lists or POI or travel log history

I then load one "LIST" to the Nuvi and four lists are sent to the Nuvi.

I cannot delete a "List" on the Nuvi

Where is the GPX folder? I cannot find it on the Nuvi and baseCamp does not show a GPX folder. In fact it doesn't even show the "Lists" that it loaded on the Nuvi.
  • Unfortunately Basecamp doesn't show the lists/categories on a nuvi, even though it could. Nor does it show the GPX folder. Just a long list of data.

To clear your GPX folder you need to use Windows Explorer. The GPX folder is in the root drive of your 2455. You may need to switch your nuvi from MTP to mass storage mode though. To do so:

    1. Start NUVI by itself and go to Volume Screen.
    2. Press the upper right hand corner of screen for 10 seconds.
    3. The Developers Screen will pop up
    4. Scroll down to MTP SETTINGS
    5. Change from AUTO DETECT to MASS STORAGE
    6. Shut down NUVI and hookup to Computer USB cable
    7. Start NUVI and it should recognize it is hooked up to the computer.

As an alternative to step 1 above, you can bring up the Nuvi's "dashboard" screen, then press and hold the speedometer for about 10 seconds to access the developer screen.

Did all you suggested and more.
Deleted all files in GPX folder
    Deleted all Unscheduled trips
    Deleted all Photos
    Deleted all languages except English
    Deleted all prior trips

Tried to do basic drag & drop of the one List I want directly to the Nuvi but that also transfered 4 lists.

I know some of above would not have an affect but also looking to create more empty space.

    Twilight Zone

Opened some of the extra LISTS on the Nuvi and find that each only contain my home address. Deleted my home address.

Now the lists contain a location or 2 from the trip made on that LIST

This is getting to be the Twilight Zone

Am leaving soon so can't fix the broken software/hardware. Sent request to Garmin support. Maybe they have an idea.
  • Well you haven't followed all the steps which may be the issue :)

AFTER clearing the GPX folder you need to reboot the nuvi and THEN clear out your favorites/saved places, see post # 2. This should now get rid of all the extra categories. Now use Basecamp to send the one list you want.

After deleting all files in GPX folder using Explorer and re-booting Nuvi there are no POI saved so there is nothing for the nuvi to delete

Just did it again to confirm

    OK tried different sequence.
    1. Delete Saved places using Nuvi
    2. Connect to PC and delete all files in GPX folder
    3. Reboot nuvi and confirm no Lists showing
    4. Connect to PC
    5. Use Basecamp I send one list to nuvi
    6 Disconnect PC from Nuvi
7 Boot nuvi and look at saved places and find 4 lists
  • Opened some of the extra LISTS on the Nuvi and find that each only contain my home address. Deleted my home address.

Now the lists contain a location or 2 from the trip made on that LIST

This is getting to be the Twilight Zone

I guess what's causing this is that those locations appear in more than one list in your Basecamp? Ideally you need to be sending a list to your nuvi that only contains information (routes, waypoints etc) that don't exist in other lists.

The alternative, given that it's only creating a few extra categories on your nuvi, is to edit those unwanted categories out on your nuvi. Or of course you could just ignore them :)
