Are you doing an in-place update from within BaseCamp? If so, try downloading the update directly from the website. Perhaps this is a bad download. That can happen on occasion. Others are able to install so I think perhaps a corrupted installer was received.

    Thx for answering.

I already have tried downloading at least 3 times directly from garmin or following the link in the first post.
I even tried downloading installer with 2 different browers, IE and Chrome, all for the same result.
And I've also tried to unrar the exes to be sure I can find the missing file when asked during install, and all of these manips have given... ahem... nothing at all, I can not put BC up to date.

In-place update or manual update doesn't work for me. Missing BCMAIN.msi and setup stops.

Any other opinion is therefore welcome...

Send me a PM with your e-mail. I have a solution from our installer team that may help you but it is too much to post here.
  • Much smoother operation, more responsive, especially noticeable when higher level map detail setting is being used. thanks for the update...

I too couldn't update Basecamp - in my case from version 4.2.2 to 4.2.3. It turned out to be because version 4.2.2 would not first uninstall (it wouldn't uninstall from Control Panel either).

I eventually uninstalled Basecamp by going to http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/ and running ‘Fix problems with programs that can’t be installed or uninstalled’.

Having uninstalled Basecamp, I was able to download and install the updated version.

    Thanks Jason for your help.
  • Base camp is a very nice program. What other programs can't do, this program thus it. for example join tracks or routes together, change direction, split tracks etc. The good news is also the fact that importing a file is on the right place. What is still not OK:
    1. if I export a GPX to the Garmin 810 it shows it after opening the courses, but on the microSD it won't show them. The reason is that Base Camp puts them in GPX map instead ofNEWFILESmap. In NEWFILES map it shows them always. So please put them with export in NEWFILES and not in GPX
    2. the way you have to create TRACKS in base camp can be much better like bikeroutetoaster.com shows, so please have a look at that.

Please keep doing this good work, basecamp is much better than lot of other programs, thanks.

    With regards,

    Albert

Hello, after upgrading to version 4.2.3. the upload of files from Garmin 810 to Basecamp does not work anymore, none of the previously uploaded files are recignised anymore, it seems that only the files from the first transfer are still recognised, none of the files from the mini SD card are recognised, I believe the mini SD is not recognised anymore.
Can there be a bug fix please ? regards, Jehend

Jehend, did you go from 4.2.2 to 4.2.3 or did you upgrade to 4.2.3 from an earlier version then 4.2.2? That will help us understand more about your problem.

    Curvy Roads

Are there any plans to add curvy roads as a route preference in Basecamp similar to the Zumo 390 option?

    Thanks,
    Ray
