Geotagging Observation

I had some images that I geotagged and noted they were in the wrong location due to the wrong time adjustment being applied. I deleted the images and re-tagged them...we'll I re-tagged them twice. I enabled "Import photos into Basecamp after tagging".
The first time, the filenames were correct (same as the original image). The second time, the file name was different and the third time, different still.

Below is an example of three images I experimented with.
First tagging (original filename) > second tagging > third tagging
IMG_8526 > IMG_8540 > IMG_8543
IMG_8527 > IMG_8541 > IMG_8544
IMG_8528 > IMG_8542 > IMG_8545

Why doesn't BC maintain (use) the original file name ???

I am having the exact same problem; it has happened multiple times now.

When Basecamp is through geotagging the photos the numbers have been scrambled; sometimes altogether different numbers appear in the file names.

The alpha characters are fine; first two numerals in sequence are always OK; the next numbers are as if some random number has been added to the listing sequence. Not an necessarily an orderly progression as reported by FRENSICPIC. Sometime a fifth digit will appear for no apparent reason.

It is quite aggravating when I have to go back and rename (re-number) several dozen photos. Happens nearly every time I use Basecamp to geotag photos. (which otherwise works quite well) I am processing 30~60 photos at one time.

This is a major glitch and I'm surprised there has been no response from Garmin. Perhaps not many users use Base Camp for geotagging?

Windows Home Premium 64 bit FWIW.

I'm wondering if anybody from Garmin even looks at this forum. Anyway I just installed the latest Basecamp (4.2.4) and am disappointed to see that this glitch persists.

    Quite frustrating...

    Hi,
I have several images of waypoints that I would like to assign. The images are of courthouses that are bonuses on a motorcycle rally I'm going to ride. The bonuses were give in a pdf with an image link assigned to each courthouse. I have BMW NAV IV & V GPS's that I would like the 'picture/image' to show on when at the bonus location. How do I get these images into the trip file or assigned to the waypoint?
    Thanks,
    Robert
