Hi there,

Im trying to get an elevation profile to my track/route, however apparently my base camp does not have any elevation data. My question is, how to get elevation data into base camp so that base camp can plot elevation graphs. Can anyone tell me how I can do this?

PS: I'm using garmin edge 810 with city navigator Europe NT.

Probably you'll have to buy the appropriate Garmin topographic maps. City Navigator certainly doesn't have altitude information. I don't think there's any way of acquiring just altitude data.

Thank you Schinder for your reply. Unfortunately my life savings are already spend on the edge. Is there not a way to use free altitude data? Google earth has it, and on garmin connect also altitude data is available (unfortunately this doesn't work for longer rides).

I do have 3 that I paid for that work very well. I have tested the results between them and the overall gain numbers are within 2-3%.

That is the a really handy tool! However, it does not allow to add elevation data to routes, only to tracks. This would be fine if the edge was willing to navigate tracks, which it is not if the course is longer than +/-100k. Is it even possible to add elevation data to routes, and, if so, how?

To sum up where I am: I now have a track with elevation data and I want to convert it into a route with elevation data. Converting the track with elevation data into a route using basecamp returns a route without elevation data.
