Hello, new here. I have Basecamp 4.2.2 installed on my Windows 7 Laptop. and i have successfully loaded BC Backroad Mapbooks topo maps, designed for use on Garmin products, into both Basecamp and my Nuvi 1390.
Is it possible to use a Garmin 18x gps antenna, plugged into the USB port on my laptop, and see my realtime location in Basecamp?
I've searched and cannot find confirmation. I called Garmin support and talked to someone who said it would work but may need a software update.
I've called some GPS Retailers - who have both said that Basecamp does not support realtime location data.... but one said that it is coming in a future version.
But I can purchase a GPS antenna now that will plug into a USB port and provide realtime location data to my PC.
Sounds like the hardware solution is available, but Basecamp is the limitation.
I'd really love to use my laptop in my vehicle for larger screen size and better topo detail than my Nuvi.... any suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve
