Is there a tutorial or a link someone can share with me on how to download tracks saved on connect.garmin.com into Base Camp? I just downloaded Base Camp and have years worth of tracks saved on connect.garmin.com. Now that I have Base Camp I want to save my tracks there.
You can view an activity on Garmin Connect, then click on the "Export" button on the toolbar, then choose GPX or TCX format.
Then open BaseCamp, then go to File menu -> Import.
The problem is you can only export one activity at a time from Garmin Connect. So it will be very time consuming if you have loads of activities.
There are some unofficial tools for bulk exporting. You could try this website: http://www.sideburn.org/garmin/
Or if you have a backup of the file on your computer, you can probably import those into BaseCamp. Depends on what device you are using, I think its a good idea to always take a copy of the activity file, as well as uploading to Garmin Connect. That makes it much easier if you want to change to another website or software in the future.
@Craig_Wallace - When I first got my Forerunner 405, I was uploading my activities to Garmin Connect and also to Garmin Training Center to keep a local copy on my PC or Mac. But I fell out of the local-copy habit & now was looking for a way to bulk-download from Garmin Connect.
I had no reason to doubt the safety of the the sideburn.org method, but I didn't really want to give out my username/password to an insecure site which that method requires.
So thanks very much for the pointer to the PHP script garmin-connect-export on github. It's currently downloading my entire Garmin Connect history seemingly without any glitches!
When the PHP script began I was initially worried that it was importing GPX format and I didn't want to lose my activity name or information. But I randomly picked one of the downloaded activities, opened it in BaseCamp, and saw that the name and description was still intact.
