split kmz map

Hello,
I have very high resolution map on my PC. (10MP file)
I've succeed in calibrating the map with google earth and creating KMZ map which opened it with BaseCamp without any problems.
the only problem is that as far as i know the image is in very high resolution and can't be view correctly in gramin eTrex20 device.
is there any software that can split the KMZ map into smaller map?

To display properly each .jpg must be no larger than 1024x1024 pixels. Have a look at these programs, they will help to split a large image into separate tiles that meet Garmin's specs.

Thanks for the quick response.
In case I prepare the KMZ map with multiple images,does Garmin device automatically changes the map whenever I move from one zone (JPG file) to another ?

Hi, no it will not change the map automaticlly. but u can switch them all to "ON" or "Show"

Does it has any limits on number/size of maps that could be switched on the same time?

Actually, you can only switch all custom maps on and off together. As for the limits: that depends on the device. Read this: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?2646-Technical-Details

where are those number taken from?
i found nothing in eTrex20 specs.

Note that .kmz files are actually "containers" that can hold many separate .jpg images. So you will only have one file, but that could contain (for example) 100 separate .jpg images. We usually call these "tiles". This complexity is all hidden on the GPS and you will only see one entry for your custom map in the Map Setup menu.

Thanks. I already noticed that.
If I make separate KMZ maps, I can turn on/off each one separately ?
the memory with SD card is large so it is possible to cover almost any area of interest if it is possible to turn on only the map in the area I am in and turn off the other KMZ maps(files). is it possible?

No, that is not possible. There is just one "Custom Maps" option in the map menu (where you switch the maps on/off) that applies to all kmz files together.

it is annoying limitations. any work around?
it is possible to buy many 512MB microSD cards,cheap and straightforward but kind of stupid if I have 1.7GB internal memory.
