Garmin Basecamp cache iPhone photographs and using massive amount of hard drive

Hi

Basecamp is cache the photographs on my iPhone every time it starts and the iPhone is plugged in. This has run my harddisk out of space a couple time. How can I stop this stupid "feature". And maybe it should be turned off by default Mr/Ms/Mrs Garmin.

Really? I assure you it's not.

Just that Basecamp will read any card/device/usb stick plugged into your PC. So if you don't want it to read anything just don't plug it in, it's really quite simple.

I use (the PC version) of BC on a machine with multiple accounts. It was very annoying to me that BC would copy 2GB of Birdseye images from my (clone or real) device to my PC needlessly duplicating data and eating space.

My first workaround was to rename the BirdsEye folder on my (clone) device so BC wouldn't do that. My ultimate solution was to create one database, for multiple user accounts, when that feature was released. Now there is one copy of Birdseye imagery (instead of one per account) fixing my issue.

Now BC reads stuff automatically. To my knowledge there is no way to turn it off. You can either find a workaround, as I did, live with it, or hope that the developers will add a "manual synch" mechanism.

This should be fixed in a future maintenance release, probably 4.2.4. Sorry for the inconvenience.
