I have down loaded POI files from an outside location and when I use the POI loader it askes whether i want them on the GPS or computer. I can't find them and BaseCamp doesn't show them.
BaseCamp will read the CustomPOIs from your device only. Just connect a device that has Custom POIs installed to BaseCamp.
You can check if BaseCamp has them by checking "Maps > Manage Custom POIs".
Once that works, you can specifically search for Custom POIs by going to Find Options (Ctrl-Alt-F), picking "Points of Interest" and then "Custom POIs" under More Options.
The "Send to computer" functionality in POILoader (I believe this was only in older versions of POILoader, not in the current version) never made it into BaseCamp unfortunately.
