Arrive Continue

On our latest trip that started at the end of June I started experiencing a strange problem with my 660. I'm using a PC with Win 7, BC 4.2.2 and NT 2013.4 maps on both laptop and 660. After plotting my routes in BC, transferring them to the 660 and checking them when I start a route all works as it should then somewhere down the road the distance to next turn disappears and the top line displays "Arrive Continue" or some times it's blank. The map still works but the announcement of the next turn is abbreviated and doesn't make any since. Turning off the unit or stopping and starting the route doesn't solve the problem. The only thing that seems to work is to recalculate the route and even then some times the problem comes back. I contacted Garmin tech support but the tech was absolutely no help.

I've noticed a discussion on this problem on another forum but with no resolution. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me nuts.

Oh, I forgot to mention, my 660 is using the latest firmware (not sure what that is)...
  • Imports fine in Excel 2010.

Thanks for checking. I couldn't see any obvious reasons why it shouldn't import. Excel 2002 was when xml parsing was introduced, so I suspected it was an Excel issue.

You are correct, there are multiple differences in the subclass. I had looked at the wrong column.

Well for what it's worth I updated my maps to 2014.2 did some routing for a ride to the Hill Country (in Texas) this week and didn't have a single "Arrive/Continue" issue.

I had one on that mapset (the only one I've encountered, but I use Mapsource a lot). It was in eastern Iowa.

I've had multiple occurrences of it with that mapset.

Well I guess I was just lucky then. So much for that theory.

Luck is all gone! On today's trip the bar across the top was blank most of the trip only popping up the distance to turn and turn information a couple of time. I had original thought this was something to do with shortest distance routes but this was in my truck with fastest time routing. I was able to do a recalculation to shortest distance and then back to fastest time and that solved the issue. This kind of tells me it's something being pasted for BC to the 660 that the unit doesn't like.

Has anyone seen this happen with the new version released yesterday? The 4.2.3 release? Please let me know.

    Basecamp 4.2.2
    Zumo 660 Software Version 4.90
    Maps 2014.20

The attached gpx has multiple 'arrive continue's in the middle of the route when I upload it to my unit with Basecamp or Mapsource. I can recalculate it in Mapsource and upload a functional route. Nothing seems to clear it up when uploading to the 660 from Basecamp.

I first of all want everyone to know that as we speak I am working on this very issue. Is it possible though that in this route you could tell me exactly when this problem occurs? At what point in the route? At what turn perhaps? That would at least point me a in direction on where to look in the file for what might be the problem. Thus far though with the same map and with the same route I was not able to see the issue.

If you look at post #4 the route attached I had it happen on route 1 between Ellsworth and Bar Harbor. I remember one spot was close to the bridge going on to Mt Desert Island and again between that bridge and the next one. I know there were several other spots in that route but those are the two that I can remember right now.

And it happened every single time after every calculation?
