Method of Identifying Points to Drive by and not destinations

Hello,

I tried doing some searches and not even sure what to look for. We are heading for a long drive along the i75 so not sure I need a lot of turn by turn directions but am hoping that I can program my Garmin GPS to at least tell me how long before getting to a larger city. I found the GPS coordinates along various spots on the i75 from Along I75 but when using basecamp, it gives me turn by turn directions off of the I75. Any way of turning this into say a "drive my" location or a reference location only? or is that beyond the capabilities of the machine/software?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
  • If you simply want waypoints on I75 then all you need to do is be more careful in selecting the points, it sounds like you've picked coords that are off route.
  • If you create a specific waypoint located on I75 that you want announced, say named "I75 Atlanta", and put that in your route, it will announce that as you drive by. Do that anywhere you want. It will still give turn-by-turn along the way, but you can always look at your turn by turn list and select that waypoint to see how far it is, eta, etc. Keep in mind that when on interstates, there are often "turns" announced anywhere there are major road splits, open-road toll sensors, etc., even though you are "going straight" and staying on I75.
