Can Basecamp Topo searching really be this bad?

I'm missing something, I'm sure of it. The simplest of searches seems ridiculously complicated in Basecamp. I open Basecamp v.4.2.2 and I'm looking at the state of WA in Topo 24k West. I want to search for a WA peak a friend mentioned in e-mail as a possible destination. How is this accomplished?

Control-F displays results I do not want, without first asking me what I'm searching for. The "Find" menu has myriad choices, almost all of which do something similar.

Only "Find > Find Options..." has a field I can type into before Basecamp executes a "Points of Interest" search. Sometimes it finds a location but the most common result is "No results found." Then the search field is gone and I must go all the way back to the "Find Options..." function to retype my keywords.

I understand the "search from map center" concept borrowed from Google Maps. What puzzles me most is the inconsistency of this function in Basecamp. One time "alpine" finds multiple places including Alpine Baldy; the next time it says "No results found" -- even when I've already zoomed in on Alpine Baldy, even if I'm searching precisely for "Alpine Baldy"!

Someone please tell me there's an easier way. For now I find it much simpler to launch TopoFusion and do my searches there.
