Create a route to follow a specific road

Im making a route from Los Angeles to Santa Cruz.
How do i get the route to follow Highway 1 that goes by the ocean.

For now, you will have to make it follow manually. This would be an INCREDIBLE feature. I would love to be able to have 'Follow road/route' as a routing option. Most of the time I would prefer to use US6 instead of getting on and off of I-80. "Shorter"/"Faster" doesn't help here. I feel your pain, but I'm not holding my breath.

Try playing with Custom Route Options under Route Options, you can set it to avoid Interstates, State Highways, Major Highways etc.

But I don't want to avoid interstates. I want to take I-35 to US 6, and then follow US-6 (which parallels I-80) without my GPS trying to put me back on the interstate.

As I said, insert via points. It may also help if you select shortest rather than fastest routing, but I don't know that area so it may not.

At the end of the day though if you know you want to be on US-6 you could just follow the signs and ignore your GPS :)
