I have created routes from scratch in BC and also made routes from tracks. When I load them into my Oregon 450 some of the routes, when viewed in the Route Planner, give me an opportunity to edit the route or reverse the route. Some of the routes don't offer those options. Why the difference? How can it be controlled?
If the Oregon is anything like the Montana, if your route is a direct one it will be editable and reversible, if it is anything else it won't be. Many of us plan our routes on a routable map in BC, then when satisfied, and after checking that the activity profiles are matched in BC and the unit, we switch to Direct just before transfer then let the unit re-calculate if it is also set up with the exact[/U] same routable map. If your unit's map is not routable, the activity profile has no effect and the only choice is Direct routing, just like the old units.
This usually produces a route identical to the BC one. Whether the route is made from a track or not in BC has no effect, only the chosen maps and the activity profile.
OK. I think I understand at least part of it. I'm using Topo 24 K in BC and on my Oregon. However, I can find no option on the Oregon to choose an activity. Is it determined only in BC? Where is it on the Montana?
