I found a thread https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?32140-Google-Maps-to-Basecamp-made-somewhat-easy where I found a note that Garmin stuff may interpret material generated in Google Earth differently. I have created a two-point line (about 300 km) in Google Earth and loaded it through Basecamp to GPSmap 62s. The result is that GE compared to Basecamp and my device is different. I checked both points in Basecamp - they fitted with originals in GE but all the rest in between those two points are different in Basecamp and in the device. I have done tracks with tens of points in GE and they will show correctly afterwards. Do GE and Basecamp really act differently in that case? Thank you.
I’m not sure what you mean. If I understand correctly, you have created a straight line between two points in Google Earth. The coordinates of the two points are the same in Google Earth and BaseCamp/62s. But the straight line appears different in Google Earth vs. BaseCamp/62s.
This could just be distortion due to the projection angle. It will have no effect on actual navigation. I believe Google Earth gives a view looking straight down regardless of where you are. The latitude of straight down on a Garmin map will vary depending on the area of coverage.
