The software appears to install correctly, but it never gets past the logo screen and does not start - Task Manager says it is not responding. Happened with earlier versions and the very latest. The Windows 8 64-bit tablet runs everything else superbly including Google Earth and Photoshop, and has lots of dedicated video memory (1.7 GB). Have been running Garmin software for more than a decade on numerous computers and devices - this is the first time I have had a problem like this... and this is the computer I bought specifically to travel with and use my GPS with on the road. :(
No, not run as admin. There is a way u can start Basecamp in a WindowsXP modus. So it thinks it's
running on a Win XP machine. i think its called "Compatibility Modus"
Check back in the forum for a thread titled " BaseCamp hanging on Surface Pro after latest Windows updates ". I don't have a Surface but it sounds exactly like the problem you are having. Thread was in May timeframe.
Thanks for the help - that was it. Rolled back the video driver and now it works. Can't imagine why that would create a problem for Basecamp - we should be able to update our drivers without worrying about a program failing because of it.
That's a big ask. I know many programs that will 'fall over' if you update drivers. Unfortunately manufacturers release updates without checking with EVERY program that might need to use them :)

As I experience just the same problem, what do you mean by 'rolled back'?
