Route from Base Camp to nuvi does not follow planned route

I have a nuvi 2597. I created a route on BaseCamp. Transferred it to the nuvi. The nuvi will not follow the route through the via points that are part of the route. The nuvi sets its own route with only the start and destination points considered.

I delete the route in the nuvi and tried transferring 4 or 5 times. No luck. Now I show 100 copies of the same route on BaseCamp's nuvi Internal Storage.

I am an old MapSource user. I am just trying create routes on BaseCamp and persuade nuvi to follow the routes I plan just as my MapSource and StreetPilot III would do.
  • It's not a BC issue but a nuvi issue. The newer nuvis use something called 'trip planner' rather than the older style 'route planner' that your streetpilot used. See here for detail from Garmin FAQs about sending 'trips' to a newer nuvi:

To access a transferred route in a zumo 350, dezl series, LIVE series, or nuvi 2400, 2405, 2505, 3400, 3500, or 3700 series device:

    1.Touch Apps
◦Touch Tools on the dezl 560 series
    2.Touch Trip Planner
3.Allow time for the device to automatically import the trip/route
These Trip Planner devices will take several minutes to automatically import trips into the Trip Planner. The import will automatically begin, but no message will appear on the device indicating that the import is happening. Once the import is complete, all transferred routes will be displayed under a category called Unscheduled Trips in the Trip Planner. Until the trips show up in Trip Planner, please do not turn off the device or connect it to a computer.

*Please note: When routes are imported to your Garmin device, the route may change due to navigation settings within your device.

Units that create routes using Trip Planner cannot send routes to MapSource or BaseCamp. However, units that utilize Trip Planner will be able to receive routes from BaseCamp and MapSource
