I use Base Camp to plan routes and trips primarily. What I would prefer is when using the route tool is to have it create a way point without having it try to resolve to an address. That way when I mark a point on a map it shows as the road/intersection rather than the name of a business or an address. Resolving to an address or business name could be an option.
You may need to zoom in closer to prevent picking a bad point. I have a version of the automotive activity profile where I have deselected all POIs showing on the map. Makes it easier to avoid picking an irrelevant business when making a route through a city.
Unfortunately, BaseCamp is lacking the snap-on function that we know and love from MapSource. For route planning the snap-to-road function is extremely useful.
Not sure why this causes you such a big issue? Even if it does resolve to an address provided that's the way you want to go it's simply another way point, or am I missing something?
Not sure if it will help you but if you pick an intersection you don't (normally) get an address. You can then move that point and it won't give you an address either.
I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill here though. I've never had an issue where a waypoint that resolved to an address screwed up my route. In any case as I've pointed out if you think the point is too far off the road just use the 'move' tool to move it where you want. Rocket science it isn't.
Well that's the problem with a nuvi like the one you've bought that uses 'trips' not routes. It's why i'm hanging on to my 1490 which uses 'routes' since once you 'miss' a point you're directed on to the next one, no need to stop and pull over.
