Obviously Garmin doesn't care about customers or software

I've had garmin for years. Preached about it to friends and relatives. No more. I just bought the Zumo 350 with high expectations as an awesome GPS addition to my motorcycle. What a disappointment. Routes are not motorcycle friendly. And creating custom routes on it are a royal pain. Using MapSource was great; but getting on to the Zumo is a pain. And BaseCamp is bad!!!! Can't control the zumo directly? Nah. Wanna create a custom route (which is what 99% of all motorcyclists want to do)? Get a PhD and pray. It is so convoluted what they make users do. Have to use Map Installer to get 2014 maps on the PC. Then BaseCamp sees doubles. I should have saved the $700 and used Google Maps on my phone. I know this is nothing new, but I am no longer a fan of Garmin.

I haven't used a Zumo, but new Nuvi models no longer behave like USB disks, they are MTP devices. That makes them invisible to Mapsource so you can't send routes, maps, etc. Maybe the Zumo is also like this? If so, try to access the diagnostics menu on the Zumo. On the Nuvi this is done by opening the volume adjustment screen and holding your finger at the top right corner for several seconds. Scroll down to MTP settings, pick Mass Storage and then save. The next time you connect to your computer, Mapsource should recognize your device.

So it looks like any Waypoint created in BASECAMP while in Mass Storage Mode, doesn't show up in MapSource.

It should if you reboot your Zumo.

MapSource/BaseCamp copy a file (temp.gpx) to your device when you send data to it. That file is processed (read) when the device reboots. MapSource/BaseCamp read data, for most devices, from current.gpx which is only updated when the device restarts.
