Keyboard shortcut(s) for zooming?

Hi;

I'm new to BaseCamp (am using it with Garmin 2595 GPS), and wonder if anyone can supply the info to something that seems missing in the Garmin video that deals with creating Routes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=6af85GiKVl4)? The video shows how to use the Route Tool to create a route via simple clicks. What it doesn't show is how the demonstration screen is conveniently zoomed in and out to allow the demo's user to create those click points -- with the Route tool -- without somehow losing that tool, or having to end that 'route' while using the onscreen methods of zooming! I'm assuming that some keyboard shortcuts for zooming would do the trick, but can't find any Help info on that.

Any feedback/tips would be very welcome!

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

    You can use the + and - keys to zoom in and out. Or the scroll wheel on your mouse.

    Thanks, Craig - I appreciate the help!

    I also figured out that the arrow keys will move the map in any desired direction, while clicking the route points. I hadn't realized that one had to be in the actual process of creating a route that way for these shortcuts to work.
    I wonder why such basics weren't included in either the BaseCamp Help file or the various Video tutorials. . .

    Most of the methods are mentioned in the help file, see section "Using the Map". What I think is not mentioned is alt- + or - zooms in or out 3 steps at a time, and ctrl-arrow pans the map almost a full screen width in one go. The map movement methods work any time the map pane has "focus", (slight blue edge around map pane) not only when creating a route. Also note that even while modifying a route using the insert tool, you can switch to another tool such as the "zoom" tool, do a zoom, then return to "insert" and it will resume that mode. The single-letter keyboard shortcuts noted in the "tools" menu are especially handy to switch tools while doing routing work.
  • You can also use the scroll wheel to zoom in/out while the insert and other tools are selected :)
