Will we ever see Geocaching.com API support?

One of the greatest features of having a Geocaching app on my phone is the searching and updating capabilities because it connects to Geocaching.com's API. I actually find myself more often either searching directly on the phone, or sending my PQs to the phone and manipulating the data there plus downloading more cache logs and when finished, sending the output GPX to my Garmin because neither the device itself nor Basecamp will do those things.

Between the time I download a PQ from GC.com and actually go on my outing, caches go missing, get archived, coordinates change, plus they will be found by a few more people who might have left clues in their logs. I can Refresh all the caches on the phone just prior to heading out and be sure I have the latest coordinates and accessibility status and info on the caches. I really want to be able to do this with Basecamp, too.

Surely there are many others who would want to have API access from within Basecamp. Has there been any talk that would indicate this was at least being considered?

Given your knowledge of 'caching I expect you actually know the answer to your question. In the event you are not aware, Garmin is currently committed to their own geocaching database [OpenCaching.com] - which should not be confused with OpenCaching.xx (by Country) the real Open Geocaching community. Maybe after a few more years when the Garmin OpenCachng.com system has completely gone dead from lack of use, Garmin will support the "real" OpenCaching API. I personally no longer support geocaching.com due to their refusal to support the OpenCaching (not Garmin's) API.
