Route loaded to Montana 600 obscured with blue pins!!!

Hi all,

I'm new to the Garmin Montana, actually new to any GPS for that matter, and having a bit of a problem. I'm organising a ride on the weekend and have downloaded some maps that I would like to use. Specifically I am using the Yea.gdb from the archive available here

I've imported the gdb in to Basecamp, created a route from the track, and uploaded it to the Montana, all went well. However, when I try to view the route on the Montana the screen is cluttered with hundreds of blue pins, which appear to be all the waypoints. See the following image for an example:

How can I turn these off? I really can't use the route at all the way it stands so any help would be appreciated.

Also, I plan on starting the route from a different location than it was created. Is there any way I can edit the start and stop location easily?

I can't believe you can't simply toggle them on and off through a setting somewhere, seems like a huge oversight to me!

This is big problem for me to. I had no problems with my old 60csx. Routes loaded from BaseCamp would show without this Blue pins. My new Montana is driving me up the wall. After 18 months this problem is still not resolved by Garmin. For off road navigation this is a real issue.

The problem won't be 'resolved by Garmin' since it's not seen as a problem. Some users are happy with it 'as is'. Others like you (and me) don't like it. But the answer is as Stuart posted above. I use a transparent symbol in place of a blue pin on my two handhelds. Job done.

I don’t understand (transparent symbol in place of a blue pin.) I use small green dot (small city) as route waypoints.I don’t use this blue pins.They appear on the top of my route waypoints. My data base in Basecamp contains several thousand of these waypoints in all of my (of road) routes.I had no issues with 60csx.

Thanks!!! It Just clicked. It works as advertised. Simple and effective.

I reduced the size of pin blue waypoint from 32 to 24 pixels ,and it seams to me it works better in my Montana in displaying waypoint icons and name labels in the route.
