Suggestion "Active Log: filename change to allow logical view / sort"

Problem (as I see it):
When I open a data set from my Nuvi 2460 the Active Logs appear to be sorted "Day Month Year HR:Min

Suggestion:
Logical sort would IMO be Year, Month, Day, HR:Min

####

Now when I look at the data, if I want to go from day to day I have to search through data from other months....
  • Same here. The issue is with the device rather than BaseCamp. My Fenix, Zumo and Montana all record tracks named by day-month-year if the track is in gpx-format. Strangely enough, if the track is recorded in fit-format on my Fenix it is named by year-month-day.

If I want to keep a track in BaseCamp for future reference I will always edit and rename the track anyway.

This may depend on your Windows settings for the date/time format. Probably under Control Panel -> Region and Language. If you set the date format to YYYY-MM-DD, it will change the format in Basecamp. So it will sort in the correct order.

That works for me anyway, downloading tracks from my Forerunner 110 into Basecamp. Other devices may be different.

Though it will still be useful if Basecamp had an option for sorting tracks by date, whatever their name is.
  • As noted, the capabilities of models differ. On mine, I have the ability to save/delete all or portions of the track log. Saving tracks on the unit will change the names to YYYY-MM-DD.

If you don’t want to do this, you can still sort the tracks by start time. Swap the map/data windows with ctrl+tab or using the tab in the middle left side of the map window. Select the show tracks filter and sort by start time by clicking on the start time column header (clicking again will reverse sort order). Swap map/data windows back and select the show tracks filter. You should now see only the tracks sorted by start time.

The downside is you can only see one object type sorted as desired (waypoints or tracks or routes).
