Route sent from BaseCamp to Oregon 400t not the same on device

Hello. I have created a route for a backpacking trip in the Trinity Alps Wilderness using BaseCamp with the Topo US 24k West map. The route automatically followed the trail nicely in Basecamp. When I transfer it to the device, the route follows a straight line between waypoints, ignoring the trail. (same map on device) Any thoughts? Thanks.

Have you set the routing preference on your Oregon to 'on road'? It will not route if set to 'off road'.
