How to create a route in BaseCamp that follows a trail using Oregon 450T

This is my first GPS unit and first attempt at using BaseCamp to create a route. Planning a hike in Yosemite that follows a few trails. When I create a new route (under Hiking profile) and click on the major waypoints the route results in straight lines versus following the trail. I cannot figure out how to follow the trail unless I make a million waypoints along the trail.

I've looked all around the software and settings and MUST be missing something. Any help would be appreciated.

The 100K topo maps included in your 450T and not routable. The Garmin 24K topo's are and that's what I use and why I bought a 450 and not a 450T.

FYI even the 24K topo's don't have all trails nor are the ones present 100% accurate in my area. No idea about Yosemite.

Basecamp will only route along trails if it has a routeable map that includes those trails. Which map are you using?

Thanks for the info about the routable maps. That's sort of a bummer that the topo map the came preloaded doesn't work. ;-) I could see the trail on the map and was going crazy that BaseCamp wouldn't follow it!
