Basecamp time estimation different from Mapsources time estimation

Hello

Whenever I recalculate a route in Basecamp the estimated time is longer then when I recalculate the same route in Mapsource. I double checked, the roads that are choosen are the same and the speed settings in both programs is the same.
From my experience the Mapsource estimation ismore accurate when driving, Basecamp will always show a time that is too long.

How is this possible?
Do more people have this problem?
What is garmin gonna do about it?

I would happy to post a route which I used to test this.

What about the road selection slider in Mapsource? Depending on where that is set can make a difference.

Nono, what I said. The recalculated route has exactly the same roads selected. I checked this by copying the route (after recalculation) to bascecamp and then checking if they were on top of each other. Ofcourrse the BC route was also recalculated. Still the time is different.
Try check it yourselve, use a long route of 300 km then the difference in time can already be 30 minutes.

Could you provide a sample route and let us know which map you used?

Also which versions of BC and MS were you using?

I added a track, this MUST be the roads to use such that after the calculation the route matches the track, so you're sure the roads after calculation are correct
MS and BC have standard speed settings

Mapsource version 6.16.3
Basecamp 4.1.2

BC: 602km 9h53

Not sure how you came up with the BaseCamp time you did. I Imported your file and came up with the same time as your MS did.

Yes, after recalculating the time seems off. We'll add to the list of things to look into.

I looked at this in Win-BC as well. After recalculating the route it appears to change routing in several areas when compared to the original Track. I suppose only you folks can tell if that extra hour is "unusual" given the map data.

Hi Dan.
You'lll have to add some viapoints then, so the route is on the track.
I've added the track so you'll have to create a route that is exact spot on the track. When you do this, you'll end up with the exact route I used, and for sure, the exact route in BC and MS. In this way all your other settings do not matter. This is the way we distribute routes among our members of the club before we go for a ride. Then everybody can adjust the route to the track. everybody has the same route then.

In version BC 4.5.1 this issues is not solved.
Any progress on this item.

Same route in my Zumo 350 even gives a shorter time, is this because of the "learning" effect that my zumo has?
