BaseCamp hanging on Surface Pro after latest Windows updates

Two of us on the Zumoforums are seeing a problem with our Surface Pros where BC (4.1.2) is hanging on the splash screen. No Zumo plugged in during any of this.

This started with the Windows updates that came out a couple of days ago. I was able to use System Restore to roll back to the pre-update configuration and BC was then OK. I have been through this cycle three times, once completely deleting BC and all of my maps before trying again...still no joy.

Interestingly, my Windows 8 desktop machine is doing just fine after those same updates.

Any ideas?

If I can't find an easy answer, I guess I'll roll everything back and then spend the weekend applying the updates one at a time and see if I can pinpoint the one that's causing the problem. On both machines I applied the "critical" updates, but none of the "important" and "optional" ones. I'm going to go ahead and apply all of them on the Surface just in case there's some interdependency there...but I think that's a Hail Mary.

The problem is the firmware update...makes sense since that would be thing that would make the Surface behave differently than the desktop.

Finally crawled out of the hole

I tried to restore the system to befor the 5/15 updt but still hangs. :(

I ended up going back to a "reset" on my Surface Pro...now I'm having to reload everything (including all of the Windows updates since the Pro came out). I marked the firmware update as "hidden" so I wouldn't accidentally get it. I also made sure I have lots of space for restore points and have been using them liberally as I have restored the system, just in case.

I am now current on all the updates (except the firmware, of course) and...

    ...BaseCamp works.

    What a pita.

Another one with the same problem here. I uninstalled the latest Intel HD graphics driver and now all is well.

Do you have the 5/14 (or thereabouts) firmware update applied?

    Same Here

Great advice, was having the exact same problem, so I did a rollback of the updated Intel HD driver. Returned to 9.17.10.2867 from 9.17.10.3062 and basecamp fired up straight away, many thanks for this, it's a much simpler fix than forcing a return to the previous firmware, cheers Andy
  • I have the exact same problem

How do I just rollback to Intel display driver 9.17.10.2867.
I see In my system restore In the top half "Programs and drivers that will be deleted" and in the long list is the display driver, and the bottom half the files that will be restored. So how do you just remove the one driver and restore with the older driver ?
