How to create a 2 mile route

Just got a 1490 today and trying to get Basecamp to create a 2 mile route. The instructions look easy enough but it's not working. The graphical drag and drop will not let me drag my beginning waypoint. The non graphical way is not showing up, or at least I can't find it. I have tried for about 30 min..there has to be something more intuitive than this software. Thanks.

Edit: Mapsourse did it in seconds, although I could not see the detailed map like I can in basecamp. But I figured out what is wrong with basecamp. It can't create routes directly from the nuvi..you have to dump them all into basecamp first..then it works. Cumbersome, but it works. Now going to test the nuvi....

FYI when you update the maps in your 1490LMT you'll have the option of installing them to your PC. Then both MapSource and BaseCamp will be able to use them without having your device connected.

I am not sure what went wrong, but the route never showed up. I transferred it 2x to internal memory, but still no go. The waypoints did show up however. When you transfer a route from basecamp to the nuvi they should show up under routes right? I never did try mapsource, but it had no problems creating the route from the get go.
I just manually created route with unit itself and it worked fine other than speedo did not work correctly at first, but now seems ok. Will test again tomorrow to be sure.

? about multiple maps. Tuesday evening I should have the microSD so I can update the map. But towards the end of the week I should have the same map in DVD edition for the 76. Will this cause any problems having 2 of the same maps on the same pc?

    Thanks
  • When you've transferred them you have to 'import' them on the nuvi itself, they don't show in routes automatically ... Tools, My Data, Import Routes

No program can create routes directly on the nuvi :)

To move the beginning or end of a route select the 'move point' tool and hover over the point until you see a black circle around the point, you can then drag it to where you want it.
