Celestial Information was found under the Utilities Tab in MapSource. I have not been able to find it in BaseCamp. I sure would like to see it added to BaseCamp as this was a feature I used extensively in MapSource. In fact, this is the only reason I am leaving MapSource loaded on my laptop for when I travel.
I miss it, retain MapSource, for this purpose. For motorcycle /auto travel as well as for hiking, many people prefer only to travel during daylight hours. Accurate info on sunrise/sunset by date and location is critical for trip planning. In my own limited sphere, between Edmonton and Cabo San Lucas, there is a considerable difference in daylight hours per latitude. I vote for bringing it into BaseCamp.
I think celestial info is worth retaining in BaseCamp, but not everything. For example, the map selection tool was necessary in the MapSource era when you had to put your maps on 8 MB proprietary garmin storage. Even the 512 MB garmin card when that came out still required 4 cards to get all of North America, and they were darned expensive..... constantly moving the maps for your specific trip was necessary as that was the only way to get the detailed maps on your unit. This is no longer necessary, the entire map transfer process has changed, the hardware has changed, so it is reasonable that BaseCamp drops some of the legacy functionality of MapSource.
