cannot export gpx file using basecamp

Hi,

I have a nuvi 510.
Using basecamp 4.1.2 on win7.
I downloaded a gpx file from the net, I can import it in my collections in basecamp.
I would like to export my collections to my device. (in French, menu peripherals/send to device)
My device (nuvi 510) is proposed.
But I get an error message:
"communication problem with nuvi510 (device id ...)

error happened when sending garmin/gpx/temp.gpx".
(In French:
---------------------------
Erreur
---------------------------
Problème de communication avec nüvi 510 (Identification de l'appareil 3547750351) (F:).

Une erreur est survenue lors de l'envoi du ou des fichiers suivants :

garmin/gpx/temp.gpx
)

Using windows explorer, device can be seen (300Mb free space) and files can be copied ( but I don't have the opportunity to load them).

Any hint? I begin to think ths gps isn't able to load tracks.

How much data are we talking here? Can you export the file instead of sending to the device?

If that works, then you could export your data as temp.gpx and copy it to the device.

I'd still like to investigate why sending doesn't work. Sending to the device doesn't do anything fancy, it just writes that temp.gpx file to your Nuvi. So I don't think there's anything wrong with the device.

Same problem with loading gpx file

I ran across this thread as I am having the same "error happened when sending garmin/gpx/temp.gpx" when attempting to load routes to my Garmin 760LMT. I am using BaseCamp 4.4.7, Windows 7 (64bit), ver 5.10 for the Garmin 760, and map version 2015.40 (Full North America).

I have plenty of available memory.

I was able though to export the gpx file to my computer, then manually drag and drop the file into the GPX folder when the Garmin GPS is shown as a drive in Windows Explorer.

While I can do this, I am a bit nervous of manually copying and deleting files into the GPS's GPX folder.
  • No need to be nervous as you can't do any damage even if you delete all the files in the GPX folder.

With your nuvi connected and showing in Basecamp the way to transfer data is to either right click the relevant data and select Send to or drag and drop the data onto the Internal storage folder of your nuvi.

    Problem solved

Actually I found the problem. I need to run BaseCamp as administrator as apparently the standard permissions are not sufficient to transfer the data.
  • That didn't work for me. I solved running chkdsk in windows and reparing the file corrupted. And then, It works again to load gpx files.
