The new version of the Beta is available at http://developer.garmin.com/apps/BC/BaseCampBeta_4.2.0.2.exe.

This version should fix the issue of folders and lists disappearing. If you already ran 4.2.0.1 please use "Restore from previous version" to re-import the 4.1 data with lists and folders intact.

As with all Betas, this is a preview of our next feature release. There will be some rough edges, so make sure you back-up your data before using it.

We are looking for feedback regarding the new features, please let us know what issues you encountered with functionality and usability. Please report any crashes you see, with steps to reproduce if possible.

I compiled some screen-shots of the new stuff at https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?36044-What-s-new-in-BaseCamp-4-2.

The rough list of changes:

Added Trip Planner (work-in-progress)
-adds easy way to create trips
-create trips over several days
-round trip support
-printing trips
-add destinations along the route
-flying support (airport and flight look-up)
-time zone support
Added support for different route profiles for different legs of a route
Added support to have different folders and lists with the same name (as long as they have a different parent in the folder hierarchy)
Added support for UK postal code search
Added support for Yelp search (work-in-progress)
Added support for named search (far away POIs should be found if it's an exact name match)
Added support for category search (you can type "Hotels, Las Vegas, NV")
Added quick search (hover over the map to invoke it)
Added Irish Transverse Mercator grid
Added support for displaying BirdsEye while in Basestation mode
Added support for displaying and saving the track of the Basestation itself
Added support for displaying the most recent update time for Basestation contacts
Fixed issue with Garmap Southern Africa Topo & Rec 2012.3 - NT not being displayed BaseCamp

I see that I still can not customize average bicycle speeds, as reported before with 4.0:

I apologize, we still don't support that.

I just downloaded and installed 4.2.0.2 and connected my 2595LMT. I did not have the issue of seeing the base map overlaid onto the City Navigator North America NT 2013.4. Upon closing BC, disconecting the 2595, then starting BC and reconnecting the 2595 I now have the base map overlay issue again. Maybe this will help you fix the problem.

    Win7 Home Premium Edition x64

I found a post here that linked to a base map with no map data. I deleted the stock base map and replaced it with the blank one. I still have the dual roads and railroad tracks on the map from my 2595LMT so it does not seem to be an overlay of the base map issue. I uninstalled BC beta then installed again. Still have the double issue.

In this photo you will notice a yellow RT108 and a white RT108. The white one is correct. Also note the double railroad, there is only one track.

UPDATE: I just discovered the double roads go away with the map detail set at lower or lowest. Any other setting from low to highest the doubles display.

I tried using Trip Planner with some success. When entering an address into the start and end fields the search time was very long. It found the beginning of my trip but could not find the destination which my Nuvi is able to find. I just picked one of the possible destinations it listed to try and complete a trip. Is there now or do you plan to add the ability to pick the start and end points directly from the map?
  • Hi, I have problem with transfering routes from 4.2.0.2 to nüvi 3590. I created route with 13 waypoints and I transferred it to nüvi. Then I looked into Trip Planner in nüvi and there was route with only 8 waypoints. 5 were disappeared. Map is CNEU 2013.41, nüvi 3590 (FW 7.80) and route preferences are the same. GPX attached.

The fix for that issue is not in this Beta build. Good news is, we have fixed this internally, so the next release should have this fixed.

Thank you for trying trip planner. You could create a waypoint on the map and then search for the waypoint in trip planner to add it. I'll pass your feedback along though, providing a better way to add map POIs to a trip sounds like a good idea.

Is the behavior different when you send the route with 4.1.2?

I tried it and yes. Behavior is the same. It looks like as a bug in nüvi. But same situation is when I use new Trip Planner in Base Camp and send to nüvi trip with 8 via. 4 via disappeared.

Is that fix scheduled? It's a fairly major omission for route planning.

I'm also experiencing the missing waypoints once the trip is sent to my Garmin Nüvi 3490LM. I spent hours making the trip last night only to find that some of the waypoint points did not show in the trip overview (Albeit the route does indeed still go to this waypoints, but does not have them at an actual waypoint? Looking at the GPX they are in there and marked as waypoints... Ive tried deleting and re-adding them, manually adding them, using the points of interest to add them, nothing, some of them just will not transfer correctly!

I also notice the Garmin Nüvi 3490LM ignores the times and stop durations once transferred.

I have had the same problem with my NUVI 2460 when transferring routes from MapSource (just started using BaseCamp) so the problem may not be with BaseCamp. One thing I did learn was to only transfer one trip at a time and then to immediately check that the route contained all of the points. Normally the points had transferred to the Nuvi and all I had to do was add them to the route. Also both MapSource and BaseCamp have never (in my experience) transferred the times and stop durations. They have to be entered manually after the route transfer.

    Hi,

Yes you're right, the waypoints or favourites for each leg of the trip are always added successfully to the device but some don't seem to be added to the trip. The problem with adding them afterwards is the device sometimes routes the trip differently and I have no control over the exact route. If waypoints were not missed this wouldn't be a problem...

I have a trip to Iceland in 3 weeks and am very disappointed that I cannot use my Garmin effectively at this time to plan the trip.
