GPX Unknown Import Error in 4.1.2

Basecamp 4.1.2 won't open most of the GPX files that previous versions used to open OK !

These include all gpx tracks from famous sites like http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk (for example http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/fortwilliam/profiles/buachailleetivemor.gpx)
http://www.validome.org/xml/validate/ says that this gpx file is well-formed.

Please tell me what is wrong with these GPX files - or with Basecamp!

There is a problem with that file, Mapsource won't open it either. What it is maybe someone else can help with.

When you use Validome, make sure you don't check the option "Well-Formedness only". Then you will see that the gpx file is not valid.
This is caused by the fact that the creator of that file used an extension ("drawing") without a proper scheme definition.
This is not a BaseCamp problem; contact the author(s) of those gpx files.

I concur with the posters before me.

The file is not valid. Therefore neither BaseCamp(any version) or MapSource will open it.

In this case I can agree with Falagar. The gpx-standard is widely used by many geo-application. Unfortunately many software products do not comply completely with the gpx requirements. Some of these "minor incorrectnesses" are accepted by some applications, some not. The Garmin software (BC and MS) is very strictly regarding acceptance of gpx-requirements.

As you might know a gpx file contains xml formatted data. Xml files have to comply with strict rules in order to be valid; there is no place for "minor incorrectnesses"...

Thanks for your replies. I was surprised because Basecamp suddenly became less tolerant. But I reported the error to http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk and they have already corrected their GPX files.
