Basecamp Frame Focus

This has long been an annoyance for me. The blue border on any active frame is so narrow as to be nearly invisible on my 1920x1080 PC laptop. Consequently, when trying to use the letter shortcuts for changing the cursor, I often get a route, track, or waypoint instead if that frame happens to be where the focus is. Since the focus changes constantly, I usually lose track of it.

How hard would it be to increase that blue border of the frame that has the focus by one pixel? Or double it, since to me it only appears as one pixel wide.

Thanks.
  • The safest way to activate the map pane is to reselect the current map view. This will ensure that the map pane is activated without changing the Tool focus. For those who prefer using a mouse, use the View toolbar. For those who like keyboard short-cuts, they can be found under the menu View>Map Views.

A lot of the tools should be able to pass focus back to the main window.....

The only one that does not run the risk of an undesired result is the Hand tool, which I use most of the time for that reason. The Select tool is second best. It is when I'm using the route or track edit tools that this behavior is most annoying because I can't move the focus back to the map without doing some unwanted edit. So I have to change from what ever edit tool I'm currently using to the hand, select a new route or track to work on, pass the focus back to the map with the Hand tool, change back to the desired edit tool, and continue working. I usually forget step A....

Another enhancement would be to have the (hopefully wider) blue border move to the list frame or item frame whenever selecting something in those, making it clearer that the focus is not currently on the map, and therefore hitting the "M" key is only going to select the next item beginning with "M"...(for instance).

    Falagar?

We'll see what we can do.

I added it to our feature database. Our plate is pretty full at the moment, so no promises of a quick implementation.

Presumably changing the blue map border width would be much easier than implementing moving the border to the other frames. Might only mean changing one number somewhere in the 2 million lines of code....
