  • 4.2 is currently only in beta form so yes, you have to download it separately.

That is correct. Currently even the 4.2 Beta is not available, we should have it out later this week.

4.1.2 will not see the option to update to 4.2 till we release a stable (non-Beta) version of 4.2.
  • It would be very helpful to include an Estimated Time of Arrival [ETA] calculated for each Waypoint and turn in the Route Directions.

"Time" for each leg is already calculated in Basecamp and so is "Total Time" to each point, so how about going the next step and adding ETA's based upon the User's stated Start Time.

    Thanks!

We do have this information in the route properties for all the via points. I'll add a request to have this on the route directions as well.
  • Is trip planner in BaseCamp somehow related to trips in nuvi? Can we make import/export to device?

In my opinion trip planner in nuvi is one of the worst invention of Garmin. Not because of it's functionality, which is not important to me, but because at the same time Garmin removed possibility to add shaping points (VIA) to a route. Can we add a VIA to a leg of a trip in BaseCamp? If yes, then could be expect that VIA functionality will return to nuvi?

It's not really the same thing, BaseCamp creates normal routes with Trip Planner. The idea is that eventually these trip planner (BaseCamp trip planner) trips will be able to be sent to the Nuvi as trips (with vias intact, no recalculation of the route).

For the time being, routes you create with trip planner will be sent to the Nuvi the same way you'd send a route now.

I haven't verified it, but supposedly the new generation of Nuvis already do not recalculate routes from BaseCamp. I'll try to get a hold of one of the 2013 models to test it out.
  • Recalculation is not a problem. What I'd like to have back on my nuvi is route with VIAs.

FALAGAR, will the Trip Planner features/functions be the same in the two BaseCamps (Win/Mac) at the v4.2.0.x release? I'm trying to workup a training session for the BMW Rally in mid-July and I know I won't have time to do two different workflows.

    Cheers,

The trip planner feature was developed for both Mac and PC. Any differences should be very minor.

Thanks FALAGAR, looking forward to the Mac-BC beta. Just installed and started working with the PC version.

    Cheers,
