Prob uploading .gpx files to Basecamp/windows 7 64 bit

Newbie here. I have scanned fora and stickies and haven't found help. I found a website that you can import routes/.gpx files from. When I try, windows says it can't open it, what program do I want, and gives me a limited list--but Basecamp isn't on it. When it goes to search for the program online, it goes to Word--not useful. By the way, it ends up in Jzip. Any help appreciated.
Open Basecamp, select a list or create a new one, then File>Import (into selected list), navigate to where you downloaded the *.gpx files, select what you want and click Open. On my machine, I can't double click gpx files either, because that extension is associated with a different program. I believe you can associate *.gpx files with BC, but I've forgotten how to do it. :confused:
