Withdrawal of European map version 2013.40

Please please tell me that what I've just read on another forum (Zumo) isn't true. Here's part of the post in question:-

I contacted Garmin who have told me the new Europe 2013.40 maps updates have been withdrawn as the maps are faulty and cannot be trusted

I installed the EU .41 update with Express,Fine on NUVI Fine in Basecamp NUVI connected, but the GarminMapUpdater.exe 3.2.2 will not load to PC Unexpecter Error---. Still have the .40 version I Loadedearly March 2013

To get the EU .41 on PC , I used "GarminLifetime.exe" Ver 2.0.12.0 to download-- "Setting" Installation Preference- to computer only,
then "GarminLifetime.exe" Ver 2.0.12.0 to install to PC- "Setting" Installation Preference- to computer only
Now on PC to use with "MapSource.exe" Ver 6.13.3 (standalone) without UNIT connected--
UNTIL GARMIN EXPRESS OFFERS THAT FEATURE

That's why it's been replaced with 2013.41

I encountered the one-way street problem last month when I was riding my motorcycle (Zumo 660, 2013.40 maps) in rural Netherlands. The problem is pretty minor - on a couple of occasions, the device instructed me to go the wrong way on a one-way street. Plain old common sense (in other words, just looking at the road signs) showed that it would not have been a good idea to follow the routing instructions. As soon as I drove on, ignoring the incorrect navigation advice, the device re-calculated and sent me on my way to the destination. In one case, I had to invoke the 'Detour' function to stop the device from sending me around in a loop.

As far as I am concerned, it was a pretty minor problem/error in the cartography database. In my day job, I'm an aircraft pilot, and I've seen a lot worse database errors appear in aviation navigation databases and flight management software (routing software) that is supposed to be 'bulletproof'.

Next time I get back to where the moto is, I'll update the maps to 2014.41.

Interesting point, and I'm certainly with you on the 'plain old common sense' comment. I enjoy my GPS and find it helpful and stress reducing, but there comes a time when you have to also look where you're going and realise that sometimes when it says 'take 3rd exit' you need to ignore it and look where you're going, because the actual sign for the 3rd exit says 'cemetry'.
