is it possible to click on a point on a track and then find out the distance along the track? ie to get to this waypoint will be "x" km if you follow the track, and distance to go, or even a cumulative distance in the track info window

i find the "google earth center of screen" incredibly useful, particularly when using a second monitor, would it be possible to give it a shortcut key to get to it more easily, preferably an "function" key to get there in one press

thanks to all

You can select one trackpoint, then select all of the trackpoints before that.
The easiest way to do this is to select the point in the track properties window, then press Shift+Home. This will select all of the track up to that point, and give you the distance for that part of the track.

Brilliant!!! I've been paging back and forth over tracks for years to do this when shortening huge tracks. I suppose Shift+End would select all from that point to the end, as well. Have to try that.:)
  • From what I can understand is if I open up a route and select the tab "Route Directions", select a point under "Directions/Names" and if I depress the shift key and select a different point on the column it will give you the distance of the selected area. That works great. Didn't know that. But when you say tracks is this what your talking about? I find no tracks on a route unless I have ran it and copied them from the GPS.
