BaseCamp would be much more useful to me if I didn't have to get my Garmin out of my vehicle and connect it to my computer everytime I wanted to work on a new route. Should be able to download my purchased Garmin map to my computer and work from that.

If you have Lifetime map updates for your model you can do just that. Many of us do. You can save updated maps to your device and/or your PC.

The other trick is to copy the contents of your device to a removable drive and leave that in your computer.
