Does anyone have a step-by-step procedure for building a route from an address in City A to an address in City B? I have been through the tutorials; I have emailed with tech support; and I'm still stumped. I'm new to BaseCamp, but I've had a Garmin for several years and I've been a PC user for almost 30 years.
Sure. Enter the addresses in the search box (top right), find the addresses and create a waypoint for each. Click on the route icon. A box will pop up. Select Driving in the drop down box. Drag the start waypoint to the start box, and the end waypoint to the destination box. Basecamp will create a route. Job done.
Is there any reason to think that the route displayed in Basecamp or Mapsource will match that created by the GPSR when on the road? I really don't like surprises when I'm driving in unfamiliar territory.
I have a 1390; is there any way to preview the route it will generate (discounting traffic or detours)?
You can view the route you are currently navigating (either for real or in simulation mode) on your nuvi by tapping the bar at the top and selecting 'Show map'.
Provided you have the same map on your GPS as installed on your PC, and routing settings and avoidances match, you should find the route on the GPS will match that on Basecamp/Mapsource. I've never had a different route shown, although you may get one on the odd occasion.
