BC route on my Nuvi 3710.

Hi everyone, new member in need of help.

I've recently bought a Nuvi 3710, it was the best i could find for the money i had, and more importantly it supports MS.
However, it doesn't come with MS, after phoning garmin and being told MS is out dated and BC is the software to use, i downloaded BC and started to use it to plan routes. A bit tricky to begin with but i got the hang of it.

Here is my problem, when I transfer the routes to my device (more messing about) and try to travel the routes it asks me to select a destination and then takes me the quickest way to that destination rather then the route i want to travel.

Am i doing something wrong??

Is there somewhere i can download MS as i no longer have a disc or the software saved an my PC

Any help is appreciated

Note that when navigating a trip you must select the first waypoint. If you select the last it will do what your seeing ... And take you directly to the last point.

I selected the first waypoint, but when i got there it stopped navigating. so I selected home, and it took me the fastest way not the way I wanted.

I tried that MS link before and it didn't work, it said couldn't install because I don't have a previous version. Worked that time so I'm happy, but stuck again.

How do i get my Nuvi built in maps onto MS??

If you have BaseCamp already installed the MapSource update should install and work. That said you must have at least one map product on your PC. BaseCamp comes with the "Global Map" but MS won't find it unless you copy it.

Copy the folder

C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\BaseCamp\Maps\Global Application Basemap v2.gmap

to

C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Maps <== Vista/Win7/Win8 only

I see! that's where i was going wrong before, thank you. Now to transfer my map, had an e-mail from Garmin explaining how, hopefully that works with MS as well as BC

arrrggghhh!!!! Its my device not software that's the problem! Does anyone know how to stop a Nuvi 3710 from breaking down a route into sections?
What i want to do is select a route and have it tell me turn for turn the route I plotted. At the moment it just asks me to choose a destination and sends me there then i have to select the next destination, anyone else have this problem?

Well as I said in the other threads (posted links to them) newer models, such as the 3710, don't implement routes but "trips". If routes are sent to the unit, with BC or MS, they'll be converted to trips.

You can't ... That's how the newer nuvis work.

The trip planner, in newer models, works the way it works. Trips are not routes. In fact it was only after many complained that Garmin changed the firmware so you could at least send routes and have them converted. That's why some of us here refuse to purchase one of the newer models. All my units implement routes.
