I have recently prepared a set of routes for a specific trip in the USA. I now want to use these routes as the basis for slightly different routes. I have copied the routes and saved them in a new list and folder, but find that when I alter them in the new lists they are altered in the original folder and list as well. How do I get round this?
No it doesn't, you must be confusing your routes. The duplicate is named the same as the original but with a 1 at the end. If you change that the original remains unchanged.

Hi SUSS - I do appreciate the advice as this is driving me mad. I went back and tried it again and as you say the duplicate popped up with a 1 at the end. I then added another waypoint on the end of the duplicate route, saved it, and sure enought the waypoint appeared on the original as well. If I have done something wrong I don't know where!
I still seem to be struggling with this. I have clicked duplicate and then changed the name. I then make alterations and the original still changes to the same as the duplicate. Can you give me a run through on te exact procedure to follow. Many thanks.
Well it sounds like you're doing it correctly but when you make changes to the duplicate it should not affect the original, maybe there's a problem with your installation of BC. Try reinstalling to see if it then works.
I'm not sure if this applies, but when I duplicate a route that has waypoints it will ask me if I want to duplicate the waypoints also... If I say yes then I can make changes to one without impacting the other route.... if I say no, then if I move waypoints then it changes in the other route.... But either way I can add new waypoints to one route without changing the other route.... not sure if that confuses the issue more...
