Two Users on One PC/Tablet - I'd Like One Basecamp Database

This may be more of a Windows Question. I have a MS Surface Tablet Pro (Win 8) with two users. I've installed BaseCamp on it and used the Internal Storage on my Montana to Import/Move the Routes/Waypoints/Maps to one of the users. The other user can log in but cannot see the imported information. I understand that this is because a user's BaseCamp database
is located in a folder (...) associated with that users name, so the second user is opening a second database.
So...
Is there a way to get BaseCamp to open the 1st user's database when the 2nd user logs in & starts BaseCamp?
1 Win 8 PC, 2 Win 8 Users, Basecamp, BUT only 1 BaseCamp user database?
I'm not hopeful without a lot of hacking, but I thought I'd ask!
Thanks,
John

If you don't have too much data, you could give the Garmin Cloud a try, if you log in to the same myGarmin account you could share the data.

Other than that, you'd have to resort to some sort of hack to map one users %APPDATA%\Garmin\BaseCamp folder to the other's. I haven't tried that, but it should work provided you figure out the permission issues.

Having the user pick the DB location and thus also enabling things like having the DB on SkyDrive or DropBox is definitely something on our radar.

    That would be the BESTEST!!!!!

Thanks for the reply. An option for the DB location would be great.

This is good news, when can we expect this upgrade?

Dare I ask, what is wrong with using Garmin Cloud for this purpose? Other than needing the same Garmin account , but desiring to share one DB, that would not seem to be an issue.

Because with Garmin Cloud the structure of lists and folders get lost. All you get is a huge list with every waypoint and every route. This means the Garmin Cloud is quite all right for those who does not save lots of routes and points. For me, with lots of lists and folders it's not worth very much.

If the database could be stored in DP the same structure could be accessible from everywhere.
Of course, if Garmin did the necessary adjustments so that we can keep our own structure in Garmin Cloud then it would be ok. (There is, of course, a chance that I have missed some important settings, but I do not think so)

    Hi all,

I succeeded in moving my Basecamp Database files with a Windows Directory Junction.
    - closed Basecamp
    - moved the Database directory from C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp to my Synology cloud under C:\Users\Peter\CloudStation\GPS\BaseCamp.
    - created the Windows Directory Junction on the command line in directory C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp: type "mklink /J Database c:\Users\Peter\CloudStation\GPS\BaseCamp\Database" without quotes
    - restart Basecamp

Now I have my files on both my laptops. That should also work for other clouds such as Dropbox or Skydrive.
Under Unix (and then maybe MacOS) those "hard links" also exist.
    Best regards
