Retaining data in the event of a change of computer

I use Windows. I understand BaseCamp data resides in C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\GARMIN\BaseCamp\Database\4.1 as AllData.gdb and AllData.gdb.bak. I wish to know the correct procedure for displaying my data in a version of BaseCamp installed in a new computer.

I'd use BaseCamp's backup/restore feature to transfer data to another machine as that saves everything. Note that the backup file can very large if you have Birdseye imagery etc.
