BaseCamp- Routes- Addresses- NEED HELP- New to BaseCamp

Hello and thank you in advance for the help,

We currently are trying to figure out this BaseCamp thing. We have a 2595..

We need to make daily routes of anywhere from 45-100+ residential stops.

We have tried many addresses, in every order imaginable, and it seems EVERY single address takes decades to search and the addresses it ends up with are 400-1000 miles away from us. From what I was told on the telephone by tech support, you would have thought this would be as easy as pie to do... WE JUST NEED TO ENTER ADDRESSES AND MAKE A ROUTE, all of which are within 40 miles from our home! We have never had this problem with ANY other software we have used:confused:!! Is this really this bad... or are we doing something wrong?? This is HORRIBLE!

Is there any other software out there that can be just uploaded onto our unit? Or is BaseCamp our only option??

Hi,

why not use (internet) Google Maps based route planning software like Tyre or Routeconverter, and export either directly to your GPS (or via a GPX file and Basecamp to GPS device) ?

You could also (given a Google maps account) plan your routes and/or waypoints in Google maps directly, export them afterwards to a KML/KMZ file, and then use Routeconverter to send them to your GPS (or better transform them to GPX, readable by e.g. Basecamp)

You can create multi-point routes on Mapquest.com and send them to your nuvi directly. You don't need a third party route converter like you do with Google maps.

If you want something that runs on a PC try Microsoft Streets&Trips or Mappoint. You can download a free 14 day trial.

You could also use Basecamps predecessor Mapsource to do your address search and then copy across to Basecamp.

If you are looking up 100 addresses per day, probably better to use some sort of batch geocoding service. There's a few online services for this, I think some of them can export as a GPX or KML, file which you could import into BaseCamp.
eg something like http://batchgeo.com/ or http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/geocoder/
